Two Months of Raw Onions

Too lazy to sprout so I added a very large slice of raw onion to my daily salad of greens and a little fish and a little avocado and seaweed.

After a month or 2 my heart was pounding at the littlest physical exertion. I dance African dance a very energetic form of dance and in a very short time a I felt my ability to gather oxygen greatly diminished during the dance - almost like drowning.

When I started eating the onions I kind of new it was a bad idea (like eating raw cacao) but preceded any way with the "well they say its good for me" mantra.

So after feeling like I was going to die i decided to do a quick internet search on onions - got your page to corroborate what I already spiritually sensed.

After a few weeks onion free I am gaining back some endurance. I assume my problems where mainly coming from onion induced anemia.

I've read a list of something like 100 toxins that are in Garlic.

That is what makes it a medicine in that some of these toxins work medicinally.

But some work negatively on the body too.

It is left out of the vegetarian or vegan diets of anyone who is serious about yoga and meditation because it disturbs or agitates the mind making it difficult to focus on the goal of meditation.

I couldn't find that list of toxins again so I just now Googled 'Toxins in Garlic'

Sensitivity vs. Benefits

Andrew,

I agree with two of your points:

1) Some people are sensitive to certain foods and its worth finding out which (if any) foods you might be sensitive to, particularly if you suffer from adverse reactions after meals.

2) If you are sensitive to a food, its probably best if avoid it.

But ignoring the generally recognized health benefits of certain foods (in this case raw garlic and onions) and instead advising against eating them and even going so far as to put them on a list of foods to avoid based solely on your personal experience plus a few minor side effects like the possibility of bad breath and slightly thinner blood (which as often as not is seen as a benefit), seems rather extreme and more importantly, not in the best interest of most of your readers, who presumably don't experience mucus or cold-like systems after eating these foods.

But I see no reason why the allium family's negative effects would be limited.
