Got Any Lunch Ideas?
by Sophie
(Brighton)
Sophie's Question:I usually start the day with either berries or citrus fruits. This usually keeps me going at least 2-3 hours, as I work at an office. By lunch, though, I need something quick and filling. I was looking at your banana smoothie recipe and it looks good
Also, I am on a budget of £40 a week so i need something cheap and filling...bananas?
Have you got any recommendations?
Andrew's Answer: Bananas work really well as travel food. They come in their own containers (the peel), and you don't even need a knife to eat them. They are higher in calories than most fruit, which cuts down on how many you have to carry to get enough food in.
When I worked as a newspaper reporter and had a very hectic schedule I rarely had much time for lunch, but it was always easy to bring bananas and take them in my car or to the office.
Another high calorie, fairy cheap and easy to transport fruit ideal of lunches is the date.
Both can be made into delicious smoothies if you have a blender at work.
If you slice them up beforehand, even messy/juicy fruit can be eaten from a container with a fork without any issues. Any fruit that will meet your caloric needs will do just fine.
