I Want To Start The Raw Food Lifestyle! How Long To Transition?

Maxie's Question: I am 15 and have never been a vegan or a vegetarian. I want to start the raw food diet asap, but I'm not sure how my body will handle it. I don't want to do a slow gradual change in my diet. Would switching to the raw food diet in one day be to extreme on my body?

Andrew's Answer: You certainly won't damage your body by eating better foods than you're eating now. It's never wrong to do the right thing for your health.

Some people take a long time to transition to a raw food diet, others do it overnight. In the end, it's a matter of personal preference. I've always found it easier to do something 100 percent than to do it 80 percent.

When you're no longer eating unhealthy foods, they're out of your mind as an option and you can focus on whole, ripe, raw fruits and vegetables and improving your health.

But even if you opt to go slow, direction is more important than speed. Just keep in mind that uncooked fruits and vegetables are the best foods, and always hold that up as the ideal you're moving toward.
