Is There Too Much Potassium In Fruit?
by Eric
(Wisconsin, USA)
Eric's Question:I am planning on trying this diet, it makes a lot of sense. I became a vegetarian in November of 2009, and I have thought a lot about eating only raw foods a lot.
My question, though, is concerning the obviously high levels of potassium on this diet. Is it going to affect kidney function?
Andrew's Answer:The kidneys are well equipped to excrete excess potassium. Potassium is water soluble, and the excess can easily be expelled with urine. There's no danger of consuming foods rich in potassium.
