Meat And Cooked Food Cravings On A Raw Food Diet

Angel's Question:
Hi Andrew,
I've been on a raw food diet for a couple of months now and lost 10 kilos of weight.
But every now and then I suffer from cooked food cravings, especially potatoes. Sometimes I have the strong feeling that I want to eat meat.
Sometimes I eat a lot of sweet fruits, sometimes not. I usually eat salads. What can I do to overcome these cravings?

Andrew's Answer:
Hi Angela.
Congratulations on losing 22 pounds.
You don't tell me much about you're diet, but I'm getting the impression that it mostly consists of vegetables with considerably less fruit.
If this is the case, then it's very likely that you're simply not eating enough calories when you're having these cravings.
The vegetables in your salads are very low in calories, and without oils (which you should not be eating), vegetable salads won't provide enough for you to function.
I highly suggest you integrate more fruit into your diet and ensure that you're taking in an adequate amount of calories.
If you're taking in enough calories through fruits, your cravings will go away.
