Should You Try Raw Foods If You Have A Weak Digestion?

Hi, I have just done a week-long detox and have weak digestion. I still have problems with constipation and tiredness and bloating.

I want to eat stuff that will make me better, but I'm not so sure on the raw veg now. I've read that people with weak digestion should avoid raw foods. Is this true?

Andrew's Answer:

Hi Jay.

First off, everyone's health and vitality is unique and there are no accurate universal prescriptions for any problem. I know nothing about you and your situation and it's not fair to speculate.

However, raw fruits -particularly juicy fruits - are the easiest foods for anyone to digest, with the possible exception of juice, which has its own drawbacks due to its fiberless, processed state.

Compared to a meal of meat, grains, or
most fatty foods, fruits virtually fly through the digestive system.

Animal foods crawl though and can often rot due to our body's inability to properly handle them and conflicting digestive mediums brought on by poor food combining.

Fruits are not only the perfect fuel, but also a balm for those with digestive problems. I suffered from colitis for years, and it wasn't until I completely gave up all cooked food and spent over a month eating just fruit that the disease went away.

When I first started eating raw, my intestines were still too sensitive from the colitis to eat many raw vegetables, but by the time a few months had passed I was healed enough to eat easy-to-digest greens like celery and lettuce.

After a little more than a year I could handle raw cruciferous vegetables like cauliflower and broccoli.

Today virtually all of my once-devastating digestive problems and other health issues are gone, and I have fruit to thank for that.
