I recently read FIT FOR LIFE A New Beginning The Ultimate Health and Diet Plan by Harvey Diamond.
Diamond study the Science of Natural Hygiene ..Right!
Ok, this leads me to my question(s)
Why is he recommending Green Tea (of course he does tout that you should buy it from Japan). He also touts various supplements and his recipes contain garlic etc.........
If NH teaches that garlic has toxic properties and is a natural anitiboitic that means against life why would he recommend this to people.
I am really baffled by this!
Another question is do you think a person who does not have much organic fruits and veggies available to them due to were they live, should be taking a multi vitamin or any type of supplements?
I would like to add that for the most part I agree with his book. Also thanks for recommending the doc. "Dying to Know" I am giving to my children as a stocking stuffer!
Happy Holidays Glo
Andrew's Answer:
I cannot speak for why anyone endorses anything. Often you'll find people who seem to have all their ducks lined up, but then you see that a few of them are straying. Perhaps their education is faulty. Perhaps they've allowed addictions to cloud their judgement. Perhaps they just don't care.
Often, I find that in the case of health educators, money blinds. You'll note that there are supplements - and supplements are quite lucrative - for sale on the Fit For Life site.
Everyone is on a journey, and not everyone gets all things at the same time. I'm on a journey of my own, and perhaps I miss things that others think of as obvious. Maybe Harvey Diamond will change his mind one day. Maybe not.
As for the topics you mentioned, garlic is not a healthy food, and green tea contains caffeine, a stimulant that enervates the body, giving the illusion of added energy while wearing down your reserves.
As for supplements, they cannot make up for dietary nutritional inadequacies. If you're eating a diet of all raw fruits and vegetables, you're light years ahead of the general population in terms of nutrition, and while conventional produce is not optimal, it won't kill you either. Much of my diet is made up of conventional fruits and vegetables.
