Hindy's Question: I have had 2 skin cancer problems. My dr. said STAY OUT OF THE SUN. I take calcium sup. What should I do? I'm afraid to go in the sun. I always wear a hat, long sleeves, and long skirts. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Andrew's Answer: Is it possible to give yourself skin cancer by getting burnt by the sun? Yes.
You should never let yourself get burnt, but that is very different than saying to stay out of the sun. The sun plays a large role in our health and the proper function of our bodies, and those who stay out of the sun obsessively end up coming down with all sorts of problems, including non-skin cancers, at a higher rate than those who sun themselves moderately.
It's important to expose yourself to the sun intelligently.
